HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PARTICIPATING IN THE BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM?
BM: I was very happy with the invitation. I have long been interested in carving to a company like Banpresto. I’m doing my best in this competition.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AS A CREATOR:
BM: I’ve worked for national independent projects, arts in general, comics and manga.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FEELINGS TOWARDS ONE PIECE?
BM: One Piece reminds me of my adolescence. The characters are very cheerful and fun in general. My students love it. I remember this program with nostalgia and to this day it is quite amusing for me.
PLEASE EXPLAIN A PROJECT THAT HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN YOUR HEART.
BM: Teaching is a very special thing for me, because I see in my students who I was 10 years ago. I feel very useful giving sculpture classes. But what I really like is creation: to see the character gradually leave my hands and become something real.
WHAT DO YOU VALUE AS A CREATOR? WHAT ARE YOUR OWN RULES FOR CREATING?
BM: The responsibility is immense, either to create some character or to sculpt some existing one. But both are cool since I have some autonomy in the character.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER IN ANIME, COMICS, ETC.?
BM: Batman and Virgo Shaka.
WHAT IS YOUR IMPRESSION OF JAPANESE FIGURES OR CREATORS?
BM: They are especially charismatic and flashy pieces. The modeling and colors are usually very well worked, but maintaining the character’s fantasy and its main characteristics.
HOW IS YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE BFC? TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS TOWARDS SCULPTING?
