How do you feel about participating in the BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM 2018?

A few years ago we discovered the contest (Banpresto Figure Colosseum third edition) and this encouraged us to work with the sculpture of miniatures about our childhood idols. Since then we have closely followed the evolution of the contest. For this reason, taking part in this competition is a great opportunity and a dream come true. We hope to give you the best of us!

Of all the art forms, why did you pick sculpting or become a sculptor?

We studied Fine Arts at the University of Seville, specifically graphic art and painting. We did not expect to work in sculpture, until two years ago we devoted ourselves to only painting and drawing. However, one of our hobbies (collecting Dragon Ball figures, One Piece, Lupin the Third ...) joined with our discovery of the 3rd BWFC, made us try to manufacture our own toys. On the Banpresto Figure Colosseum website we could see the progress of the Japanese sculptors. It was there when we discovered our passion for making art toys and collectible figures.

How do you feel about the franchise for which you selected?

We have grown up with Dragon Ball, it is the series of our childhood. We saw it on TV and we collected the first editions of the manga when it came to Spain. For us Son Goku, Vegeta, Son Gohan, Bulma, and Master Roshi are some of our idols. Our love for this franchise makes us who we are. Choosing between One Piece and Dragon Ball was very difficult, we are big fans of both series, although in this case Dragon Ball takes more time in our lives. We hope to continue working with this franchise for a long time, we love the universe of Dragon Ball and in the future we would like to also try One Piece.

Tell us the reason why you chose the character you did. (And why did you pose it that way?)

If there is a Dragon Ball character with a strong temperament, it is Vegeta. We love the capricious nature of the prince of the Saiyans, who came to the earth and fought against Goku. We think the evolution of this character is very interesting, we had been thinking for some time about the possibility of working on it. For this reason we thought it was a good idea for the contest. About the chosen pose... our intention was based on looking for a dynamic pose that reflected the character's pride during his fight against Goku. We have placed him in the air with a battle pose and damage by the hard combat.

What makes your style of sculpting unique?

We have preferred making characters from the first stage of Dragon Ball since we began working with sculptures. We feel admiration for a "vintage" style with softer forms similar to the first style of Master Toriyama. We want to experiment and keep learning! However, if something characterizes us, it’s our love for animated series from the 80s and 90s. We really admire the works of Katsuhiro Otomo, Masamune Shirow, Satoshi Kon, Rumiko Takahashi, Mitsuru Adachi, Tsukasa Hojo, Eiichiro Oda among others ... and of course, Akira Toriyama! We are only just starting, we have a lot to learn!

If you were a Dragon Ball character who would you be? And why?

Probably everyone thinks about us like Goten and Trunks since we work together it is as if we were permanently fused. On the other hand, this is our personal opinion on this:

S: I will answer for MR, she would be Gohan. Their personalities are very similar, both are faithful and brave. Also if they get angry you would not like to be around.

MR: Although S's favorite character is Kid Goku, I think she could be Bulma because of her wit and perseverance. It also occurs to me that she could be Oolong because of her chameleon facet.

How do you feel about the other contestants?

All the contestants are great professionals, it is an honor to participate with them in this edition and have the opportunity to meet them and share experiences. Since we discovered the contest we have not stopped learning from their work, being part of this competition means that we can see their works closely and talk with them about their work, so we can continue learning. We are working very hard to be up to the task.

Is there anything you like to say to your fans?

Thanks to our profiles on social networks we have met great people who support us and encourage us to continue working, we must thank them for continuing to be there every day, it is one more reason to continue making figures and giving it out best. We would like you to know how much we value your support and that we hope to continue growing, without our fans it would not be possible.
