INTERVIEW
How do you feel about participating in the BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM 2019?
"My Hero Academia" is my favorite work so I am very honored to participate.
A lot of wonderful works were born in the previous Japanese tournament, so I would like to challenge with much love as good as last year.
Of all the art forms, why did you pick sculpting or become a sculptor?
I was interested in moldings and started part-time job at a model sculpt company with a friend who I met in college. For the first time in that company, I learned about the fun of molding by touching clay. After that, I entered a toy maker and studied as a molding assistant, and I made Zero Studio with Mr. Yamaguchi I met there. And now, here I am.
How do you feel about the franchise for which you selected?
I love "My Hero Academia" because it has always been an interesting world view and character design. It is really cool that the character grows both physically and mentally in that story. Villain is not just a villain, but he has a hidden feeling in his core, so I am really looking forward to seeing how he fight with the other heroes in the future.
Katsuki Bakugo, who I sculpt this time, has grown compared to the beginning of the series and has become much cooler recently, so I want to do my best to reproduce it as much as possible.
Tell us the reason why you chose the character you did.
Because he is the most favorite character in "My Hero Academia".
Although he was a bullying character at first, he has become much cooler recently since he showed the strength of his heart. The image of the pose that I thought about this time is "Bakugo who is out of control by threatening the opponent". He is a little scary but I think that is who he is.
I also like thin All Might (true form), so I would like to try it if I have a chance.
What makes your style of sculpting unique?
Expression and posing.
I wanted to reproduce an uncontrollable image like a mad dog that was shown in a threatening scene against the opponent in that story.
Although there is still a childness, I want to express coolness rather than cuteness.
How do you feel about the other contestants?
I am very nervous because it is an expert competition. There are also champions of the previous tournament, so I want to do my best to confront them!
Is there anything you like to say to your fans?
I would be satisfied If I can make an unprecedented "Katsumi Bakugo" that will reach the My Hero Academia fans.
Especially this time, he is my favorite character, so I hope you can see what I enjoyed sculpting him through my work.
As everyone would say, I will do my best with "PLUS ULTRA!"
