GORAESH
INTERVIEW
How do you feel about participating in the BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM 2019?
Last year, I was honored to be able to participate in this big traditional tournament for the first time, but unexpectedly I have won. This time I want to participate in the tournament with more greedy feelings. It may be too much power to get the good results, but I think that such a burden will also be a driving force. This year I got a qualification for being the winner of the previous tournament, but I will do my best to show everything with the feeling that this may be the last chance.
Of all the art forms, why did you pick sculpting or become a sculptor?
After graduating from art university, I worked in design for 7 years, taking advantage of my major. When I was bored of doing the work that was decided by the company, I happened to see a modeling-related Japanese magazine called "SMH", and from that time I became interested in the figure sculptor. After a lot of training, I won the gold award for the first time in a cartoon model contest in Seoul. And I thought I was able to live as a professional sculptor. However, it was not a leeway life. I was just happy and able to continue my life while doing what I liked. I've been doing my work without giving up for a long time, so I got a good opportunity and I am here right now.
How do you feel about the franchise for which you selected?
The comics I read when I was a student was "Dragon Ball" but I don't have much memories of "One Piece". However, when I saw "One Piece" in preparation for last year's tournament, I realized that even after I became an adult, I was impressed by reading comics and shed tears. And thanks to Usopp, it was a work that left memorable win. It's my favorite manga now, and it will be a work that will make more memories for me in the future.
Tell us the reason why you chose the character you did.
When Luffy arrived in Wano Kuni and first met Kaido which became a dragon and rampaged, it was a scene that transformed into "Gear 4" to fight, but I wanted to show the power of a beast fighting against a monster. I would like to express the force that can be played just before the explosion in the compressed muscle of "Gear 4" and the tension in an unstable posture.
What makes your style of sculpting unique?
A pose with a tension just before the energy overflows in the direction where the eyes are facing each other.
How do you feel about the other contestants?
I think everyone is a great sculptor. I'm more than happy to participate in the tournament with these people rather than the competition.
Is there anything you like to say to your fans?
I'm working for the third time with Bandai Spirits, but I will continue to do my best to make impressive works. Thank you very much.
