How do you feel about participating in the BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM 2019?
I am very happy to participate in the 10th anniversary milestone of the tournament.
The size that can be made is the largest so far, so I want to enjoy and make it as much as possible!
Of all the art forms, why did you pick sculpting or become a sculptor?
I was influenced by a model magazine from around junior high school, and started from "Gundam" plastic model, but gradually I got to know the profession as a sculptor who creates my favorite character from scratch. I saw various attractive figures at that time, I longed for the sculptor, and the feeling I longed at little by little became serious.
How do you feel about the franchise for which you selected?
"One Piece" is the work that I have been involved in most of my work since the beginning of my life as a sculptor. Also, all the tournaments which I was participated in were "One Piece".
"One piece" is a memorable work that has grown me through many trials and errors in the methodology and attitude of sculpting figure. The line of characters drawn by Mr. Oda is profound, so it is interesting to discover and pursuit every time.
Tell us the reason why you chose the character you did.
There weren't many character choices but I have sculpted Zoro with a special approach (creator x creator series) before, so I wanted to sculpt him close to the original this time.
I also expected that there are new discoveries by studying swords and faces closer to the original.
There are too many main character figures and I think most of poses are already created, so I was quite worried, but I tried to create an unprecedented him in the range of the original, but how do you like it?
What makes your style of sculpting unique?
I tried to follow the original line as much as possible, so I would be happy if you could feel a little like a 3D illustration!
How do you feel about the other contestants?
The other participants in "One Piece" are all winners in the past.
They are all talented, so I will give it a try and I am glad if I could learn from them.
Is there anything you like to say to your fans?
How do you like my Zoro? There are many Zoro figures though, I hope you enjoy the difference between Existing Zoro and my new Zoro.
