How do you feel about participating in the BANPRESTO WORLD FIGURE COLOSSEUM 2019?
This is the third time of world competition.
I am honored to be able to participate this year too.
I want to convey the wonderfulness of Japanese characters and molding to overseas people.
I hope it can be one of the means to convey Japanese culture.
And ... I will get the championship!
Of all the art forms, why did you pick sculpting or become a sculptor?
While attending art university, I happened to meet a free sculptor (Mr. Keisuke Sawada), and I learned about the job of sculptors.
Although I was such an armchair theorist when I studied at the design department, I was entranced by Mr. Sawada's molding which made me say "cool!" without any complains.
After graduation, I learned from the masters the technical aspects and the concept of molding.
That's all my job right now. So, I think he made me a sculptor.
How do you feel about the franchise for which you selected?
"One Piece" is my favorite work
I like not only the absolute strength of one person, but also the story of winning with the crew / fellow / team.
Everyone has the strength of the right person in the right place, and you can trust them for each scene! "ZERO STUDIO" which I belong to is working hard every day to make such a team.
Tell us the reason why you chose the character you did.
This time it was a selection with few characters to choose from, but since I have already made various characters so far, so I chose "Ace"! I am fully prepared for this opportunity.
I know I am raising the bar by myself because I chose "Ace", but "Ace" is the only choice for me. Of course, I will aim for the master piece of "Ace".
With reference to Ace when he left Otama at Wano Kuni I chose the scene when "Ace" leaves.
Moreover, the main angle of "Ace" is the "back view"!!!
It is like "Thank you for all the love!!!"
What makes your style of sculpting unique?
The persuasive power and details part which unique to three-dimensional work.
"Ace" has many cool figures so far. So, I think "Ace" is very difficult, but I would like to create a image of "cool" that is common to many fans.
I want you to pay attention to it.
How do you feel about the other contestants?
About One Piece participants, I know everyone including Mr. Goraesh from Korea because they have experience at the competition.
And also, they are strong…
In particular, the two Japanese are members who I did not want to be the same group in the past competitions, so this make me fainthearted.
But well, if I am among these three people, I should be able to improve myself, so I think it would be fun if I could work together with these people.
Is there anything you like to say to your fans?
I am wondering if I have my fans, but to the fans of Banpresto Figure Colosseum:
It has already been 10 years since Banpresto Figure Colosseum started, and worldwide competiton will be the third time this year.
10 years are so long. I am really thankful to the people who are excited together with us.
Let's have fun together this time, too!
